Help End Hunger

You can help end hunger in our community by volunteering for the Chelmsford Food Pantry! If you have two or more hours to spare, please join our team. Volunteers under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Please check out the tasks below, find an opportunity that interests you and reach out via email (office@chelmsfordfoodpantry.org) detailing the volunteer work you can do.

PREPARE THE PANTRY:

We’re here every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday getting the Pantry ready for our clients: This task requires some heavy lifting.

• Sort food donations and check expiration dates
• restock shelves
• recycle boxes
• light cleaning
• …and other duties

Food Donation Community Drop-Off:

Hours:
Thursdays 10:30-1:00, 6:30-7:45pm)

PRE-BAGGING: 

Pre-bagging products to get ready for visiting clients: (2-hour increments)

Hours:
Wednesday: Noon – 4pm
Thursday: 12:00 – 4pm

CLIENT PICKUPS: 

These days are fast paced with a lot of clients coming into and out of the pantry.

• Work 1-on-1 with clients to help them shop
• Work outdoors helping clients load their food into their vehicles
• Break down boxes for recycling 

Hours:
Wednesdays: 3:30-6pm or 6-8pm
Thursdays: 1:30-4pm
Fridays: 6-8pm

RESCUE FOOD: 

Much of our food is “rescued” by volunteers who pick it up at local stores and restaurants and bring it to us.

• Volunteer must be a licensed driver, and must have a vehicle
• Must be able to lift several boxes of food donations

FOOD DELIVERIES: 

The Chelmsford Food Pantry offers deliveries at home to clients that are unable to attend pick-up hours.

• Pack food at pantry and drive to client’s home

STAND BY HELP:

• Be on call when The Pantry needs volunteers
